Welcome to the website of the Navan Branch of the Irish Red Cross Society. The Navan Branch was founded in 1942 and has been serving the local community and surrounding areas since then.

 Our main areas of involvement in the community are the Navan Unit of the Irish Red Cross Society and Navan Red Cross Friendship Club. These are administered by the Branch Committee who also organize First aid courses for the general public as well as groups who are interested in training their members to a high level. We also work closely with the senior citizens of the locality and have hosted an annual senior citizens party for them for more than 50 years. The local Branch is also responsible for fundraising.

 Navan Unit.

Our unit provides an essential first aid service to many organizations in the town and throughout county Meath. We operate a fully equipped ambulance / minibus and our volunteers are ever present at many sporting events and concerts in the town. All our Unit members have the opportunity to expand their first aid knowledge by progressing to instructor level. The Unit operates under a rank structure, and on joining you become a Unit Member. You have the opportunity to progress to Assistant Sub Officer, Sub Officer, Unit Officer and higher to Staff Officer Ranks within County Meath.

The Officer in Charge of the Unit at present is Mr. Hugh Hennelly. The Unit meets every Monday (except bank holidays) in St. Anne’s Hall, Fairgreen, Navan (beside St. Mary’s Church) at 8.30 p.m. Hugh can be contacted by e-mail at:   unitofficer@navanredcross.ie

 Navan Red Cross Friendship Club.

Navan Red Cross Friendship Club provides an opportunity for local Senior Citizens to meet socially at least once a month. They also travel to meet other groups in the county and beyond. Every year our members bring a group of about 70 senior citizens on a 5 or 6 day trip. Their destinations have included places as far apart as Donegal and Waterford to Paris, Lourdes and Fatima.
